Emergency First Responder / Emergency Medical Responder

Historically, EFR / EMRs have been the medical first responders in rural and remote communities. They are often associated with volunteer emergency services organizations and may be the sole provider of emergency medical services in some communities.

EFRs / EMRs may be responsible for initial assessments, the provision of safe and prudent care, and the transport of a patient to the most appropriate health care facility.

EFR / EMR may also be utilized by Patient transfer companies or private Emergency Medical Services companies for special events. Most of the courses appear the same in both list s, but the EMR course takes each one into much greater detail.
